I’ve worked as a birth and postpartum doula for over two decades, working with close to 800 expecting and new families. The support, confidence and friendships my doula and birthing community gave me while living far from my family inspired me to go down the path of supporting new families. I mentored and worked for many years with Sasha Padron (LINK)at the Centre for Growing Families and trained as a Childbirth Educator at Birthing from Within (LINK). As a certified Yoga Instructor I have over twenty years of experience in teaching pre and postnatal yoga at Yoga Space (LINK) in Toronto and hosting mothers circles out of my own home. I completed an Early Childhood training (Birth to Three focus) at the Rudolf Steiner College Canada in Richmond Hill (LINK) . Most recently I’ve worked closely with a wonderful mentor Beth Berry and completed her Motherwoven (LINK) Facilitator training. When not working, travelling, or getting out in nature, I’m adjusting to life as a mother of two far-flung beautiful adult children.
More about threemoons…
The three moons archetype is a framework that, when referring to motherhood, is used to reference three stages of a woman’s life; the maiden, mother and crone. Or you can see the waxing, full and waning moons as representing new beginnings, fulfillment, and wisdom.
When I was in Ireland in my early 20s - long before I became a mother and began my work as a doula - I picked up a necklace with the Triskelion, celtic spirals. Years later when the name Threemoons came to me I learned these three spirals represent three stages of existence such as life, birth and death, or maiden, mother, crone.
"Motherhood is the biggest gamble in the world. It is the glorious life force. It's huge and scary — it's an act of infinite optimism"
